Starting off in Texas clubs, he quickly made his mark in HBO's Young Comedian Special in 1984. His memorable style got him on Saturday Night Live and the late night talk shows. He was good friends with Howard Stern and frequently appeared on the Shock Jock's show, and partied hard with the Californian rock bands of the late 1980s - Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, and Gun n Roses. Kinison was killed in a car crash, six days newly-wed, on his was to a gig. Though traces of cocaine and prescription drugs were found in his blood, it was the fault of the other driver - a teenage boy - who was drunk. Kinison was aged 38 when he died.
